The Photographer - Chris Sims
I have always had an interest
in photography ever since my early childhood days. I can probably "blame" my
father for my interest in this hobby. I have been taking photographs for
over 25 years & still find it as rewarding as in the days of wet film.
For the last few years I have focused on using digital methods & now use
digital equipment all the time. The rapid pace of technological improvements
means that there is always something new on the horizon but the fundamentals
of photography haven't changed at all. The digital era simply means that you
can review your results as you go along rather than waiting for them to be
developed and printed in the darkroom or at a photo-lab. Photo editing
software also enables manipulation to a photograph after the shot has been
taken.
Over the years I have taken photographs of many subjects including weddings,
family occasions, children, birthdays, christenings, motor racing, motor
cycle racing, motor rallies, three day eventing, rock climbing, aviation,
fun runs, water sports, hot air ballooning, together with my personal
photographic collection which includes local scenes & landscapes alongside
local events.
I have been a member of the Exmouth Lifeboat Crew for over fifteen years and
in between photography and "shouts" on the Lifeboat I also try and find time
to enjoy cycling, mountain walking, and spending time with my wife and two
children. I have lived in Exmouth since 1992.
