Your photo shoot

What does the shoot fee include, and how long will the shoot last?

For a studio style photo shoot the session will usually last approximately an hour and a half.
For a lifestyle photo shoot it is approximately 3 hours.
Included in both a studio or lifestyle shoot are: our travelling costs, our photographic expertise, the shoot time and the post production of the images in preparation for viewing.

What clothes should we wear?

When choosing clothing for a family photo shoot be creative. You don’t all have to wear the same colour, just make sure you complement each other in your choices. Try to pick a theme and stick with it. Also remember that if there are a lot of you in a photo it can look a bit busy so try to avoid busy patterns in your clothing too; you don’t want your photos to be chaotic. Your relationship together as a family should be the main topic of your photographs. Try to stick to similar colour tones, so perhaps you will all be in black, or all in white, or all in whatever colour you like, the key word here is “all”. Children need to be comfortable so it is important they like the clothes you are asking them to wear. Changing outfits allows for different photographic opportunities and gives the children a chance to have a drink or snack and not spill it down their clothes!
For the younger children do give them the choice of one of the outfits. The outfit can be anything whether it is a princess dress, Spiderman costume or dance outfit we are happy to photograph them. Children love to dress up and see photographs of themselves.

Are you able to remove imperfections from the images?

We would not adjust an image unless asked.
To remove spots, bruises and scratches that are part of an active child’s life is never a problem.

What happens if I book a lifestyle shoot and the weather is bad?

We always say don’t worry about the weather. We can either do your shoot indoors, go outside and let the children stomp in puddles or reschedule the shoot for another time.

Do you mind if our family pet joins our child in the photographs?

Pets are an important part of family life so including them in a photo shoot is absolutely fine.

How many people are included in the session fee?

Our single family studio style shoot is £50 and this includes your family and grandparents. An extended family studio style shoot is £85 and this includes 2 families with grandparents. If you would like more than 2 families we suggest phoning us to talk it through and we will give you a quote.
Our family lifestyle shoot is £125 for a single family. If you would like an extended family lifestyle shoot the cost is £200.

After the shoot

When can we see the pictures?

We want you to enjoy looking at your photos as much as the photo shoot itself. After the photo shoot we will contact you to arrange a viewing session. We recommend that you arrange a viewing time when all the decision makers can be present. You will be able to view the photos and look at our product choices: frames, canvases, glacial blocks and other presentation products. If you place your order and pay for it at the viewing session we offer a fantastic 20% discount on all of our product prices.

How many images will we be able to choose from?

We expect to present you with between fifty and seventy five images from your session. This will be a mixture of the shots taken.

Do you have a minimum spend?

We don’t have a minimum spend however most clients spend £300 upwards.

Can I buy the photographs on a disc?

Yes. You are welcome to buy the complete set of print-ready digital images on a disc which can be taken to any lab for reproduction. The disc price is £395. You will receive a licence to reproduce the images for personal use, or to give to family and friends. We retain the copyright to all of the images and you are not permitted to enter the pictures into competitions or to sell on to third parties.
